Essential Job Functions:

This position is responsible for recognizing the type of Land Record document to be indexed, accurately indexing all information in the computer, verifying documents to find possible errors and making corrections as needed. The Land Records Clerk is also responsible for recording and indexing judgement liens.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Determine type of Land Record documents to be indexed. Index all names and required information into the computer using the proper codes.

Verify all information against the documents for possible errors and make the necessary corrections.

Process judgments and liens through the MDEC Odyssey File & Service software program.

Perform other duties as required, scan, number, mail backs, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma (or GED equivalent).

Experience:

One (1) year of general clerical experience.

Note:

A Bachelor?s Degree may substitute the required work experience.

A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.

A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Knowledge of various types of Land Record Documents.

Read and apply job-related terminology, codes, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and laws as required to exercise judgment in their interpretation and application.

Define problems, collect, and record data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, apply common sense understanding and make decisions based on knowledge and experience to solve problems in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Skill in:

Operating a personal computer, and printer and have excellent typing skills.

Operating a multiple line telephone and answering incoming telephone calls in a respectful and professional manner; repeating information in the correct text it was given.

Operating a copier to make copies, fax documents and scan documents to email.

Ability to:

Focus and concentrate to enter proper information from Land Record Documents, verify documents and make corrections as needed.

Communicate in an effective, patient, and tactful manner with customers and coworkers utilizing proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Listen to verbal instructions and/or review written instructions to fulfill requests and complete various tasks.

Articulate directions, instructions and information in a group or a one-on-one setting to attorneys, Defendants, Judges, Court staff and other Court agencies using proper word tense and annotation.

Multi-task by organizing, setting priorities, focusing, and concentrating to simultaneously process work and responsibilities error-free within considerable time constraints in an environment with continuous interruptions; make corrections as needed.

Read and interpret comments, notations, and orders, record essential information, and initiate appropriate course of action.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
