We are partnering with a regional organisation seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Southeast Asia & India team. This role offers exposure to both regional and Singapore matters, working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams on a wide range of legal and compliance initiatives.
You will play a key role in strengthening legal frameworks, supporting commercial decisions, and driving consistency across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional Scope:
- Partner with regional teams to enhance legal processes and drive efficiency
- Support standardisation of legal documentation across markets
- Develop and implement legal risk assessment and escalation frameworks
- Review contracts and assess legal risks, providing actionable recommendations
- Collaborate across functions to deliver aligned, commercially sound outcomes
- Draft, review, and maintain legal agreements and templates
- Provide legal guidance on regional matters
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact
- Support legal training and awareness initiatives
Local Scope:
- Advise senior management and business units on legal matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with a focus on risk mitigation
- Maintain contract templates and legal documentation
- Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and operational risks
- Handle disputes, investigations, and sensitive matters
- Manage external counsel where required
- Support M&A and corporate exercises
- Ensure compliance with local laws and internal policies
- Collaborate with internal audit, finance, and other teams on cross-functional projects
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer with relevant in-house or private practice experience
- Strong experience in commercial contracts and regional exposure preferred
- Able to manage multi-jurisdictional matters and stakeholders
- Commercially pragmatic with strong risk awareness
- Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
