Hiring Legal Officer Graduate Trainee Role Overview:
The Legal Officer Graduate Trainee is an entry-level legal professional responsible for supporting and providing legal, regulatory, and corporate governance services across the organization. Working under the guidance of a senior legal professional, exposing you to practical hands on experience in legal research, contract administration, regulatory compliance, corporate documentation, dispute management, and advisory services.
The role is designed to develop your technical, analytical, and professional competencies while exposing them to the legal and commercial aspects of the organization’s operations. You will demonstrate a high level of integrity, attention to detail, confidentiality, and a willingness to learn in a dynamic business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, and emerging legal issues.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading contracts, agreements, memoranda, policies, and other legal documents.
- Support the review of contracts to identify legal and commercial risks.
- Assist in ensuring the organization’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Prepare legal opinions, reports, and briefing notes under the supervision of senior legal personnel.
- Maintain and organize legal records, contract registers, and corporate documentation.
- Support the management of litigation, regulatory matters, and external counsel where required.
- Monitor regulatory developments and communicate relevant updates.
- Participate in due diligence exercises for transactions, acquisitions, and other corporate activities.
- Assist with company secretarial duties, including preparing meeting documents, maintaining statutory records, and filing regulatory returns where applicable.
- Liaise with internal departments to provide legal support on operational matters.
- Uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Participate in training, mentorship, and continuous professional development activities to build legal and commercial expertise.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (LL.B.) in Law.
- Called to the Nigerian Bar and enrolled with the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
- NYSC completed or currently serving (as applicable).
- Demonstrated interest in corporate, commercial, finance, or investment law is an advantage.
