Role Description The Microfinance Legal Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Tirana. This position is responsible for drafting, reviewing, and updating loan agreements, contracts, and internal legal documents to ensure compliance with Albanian laws and microfinance regulations. The Legal Officer provides legal advice to management and operational teams on credit procedures, client relations, collection processes, and risk mitigation. Daily tasks include monitoring regulatory changes, supporting licensing and reporting requirements, and liaising with external legal partners, authorities, and courts as needed. The role also involves managing documentation related to dispute resolution, supporting recovery actions, and contributing to internal policies and training to promote legally sound practices across the institution.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Albanian civil, commercial, and banking/financial law, particularly in microfinance and lending.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, loan agreements, and legal correspondence.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements, prepare legal opinions, and support compliance procedures.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills in a financial or microfinance context.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues and clients.
- High attention to detail, accuracy in documentation, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple cases and deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law; bar qualification or postgraduate specialization in financial or commercial law is an advantage.
- Prior experience in a bank, microfinance institution, or other financial services organization is preferred.
- Proficiency in Albanian; working knowledge of English and common office software tools (e.g., MS Office) is beneficial.
- Demonstrated integrity, professional ethics, and ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment in Tirana.
