Job Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance to management and business units on corporate and commercial matters.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, NDAs, MOUs, lease agreements, and other legal documents.
- Handle commercial litigation, disputes, and legal proceedings, coordinating with external legal counsel when required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, statutory requirements, and corporate governance standards.
- Conduct legal due diligence for business transactions, investments, and strategic projects.
- Identify legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to protect the Group’s interests.
- Maintain an organised central repository of contracts, court cases, licences, statutory documents, and other Group-level legal matters.
- Monitor contract renewals, legal deadlines, and regulatory changes, and advise management on potential business impacts.
- Provide legal support for international and overseas business operations, including reviewing and negotiating relevant agreements.
- Support debt recovery, dispute resolution, and other legal matters while maintaining strict confidentiality of legal and corporate information.
Requirements
- Attorney-at-Law with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in corporate or commercial legal practice.
- Strong experience in commercial litigation, contract drafting, legal advisory, and corporate legal matters.
- Excellent knowledge of Sri Lankan commercial and corporate laws.
- Strong legal research, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and report-writing skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
- Ability to manage multiple legal matters independently and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience in corporate governance, legal risk management, and international business operations will be an added advantage.
- Excellent command of English, Sinhala, and Tamil will be an added advantage.
