We are seeking a legal assistant for our Civil Rights practice!

Responsibilities include:

Word Processing, service, filing of pretrial and trial pleadings, discovery requests and responses, deposition notices, subpoenas, correspondence, and other legal documents.
Docketing/Calendaring – Prepare docket sheets for all court and court-related deadlines, discovery deadlines, depositions, appearances, meetings, and all other dates and events. Enter dates on attorneys’ Outlook calendars along with applicable reminders and follow-up dates.
Court Rules and Procedures – Knowledge of all applicable local, state, and federal court rules, procedures, filing fees, deadlines, page or word limits, filing pleadings in redacted form or under seal, filing judge’s copies, ensuring documents are treated confidentially, as required, etc. Research and review rules as necessary.
Records Management – maintain and organize client files, including opening and closing matters, updating electronic and hard-copy files, indexing, ordering labels, etc.
Trial Assistance – Label and compile trial exhibits, type witness and exhibit lists, compile trial notebooks and assist, arranging for the attendance of witnesses at trial, assist or coordinate trial set-up in court room, make deliveries to court if needed, and type pleadings as needed during trial.
Case Document Management – Assist in production, receipt, handling, and entry into database management software documents produced in discovery or through the Public Records Act.
Teamwork – Skill and interest in working collaboratively with others in a collegial manner.
Performs various administrative tasks as required (e.g., reception back-up per rotation schedule when needed).

Experience/Education:

Three to five years Legal Assistant experience; knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures, and legal docketing/calendaring, serving, and filing pleadings and discovery rules in State and Federal court; proficient typing and grammar skills; trial preparation and e-filing experience a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and fastidious attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office a plus.

Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 Depending on Experience
