Currently, the company is expanding its licensed consumer lending business in Pakistan, with formal operations expected to begin around June or July.
Location: Islamabad, Pakistan
Reporting to: Regional Head of Legal & Compliance / HQ Management
Key Responsibilities:
1.Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable local laws and regulations relating to digital lending, AML/CFT, consumer protection, and data privacy.
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on potential legal and compliance implications.
- Prepare and coordinate regulatory filings, reports, disclosures, and responses to relevant local regulatory authorities.
- Maintain compliance calendars, statutory records, licenses, and regulatory trackers.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, and licensing matters.
2.Internal Compliance and Governance
- Implement and periodically review internal policies and procedures, including AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions, consumer protection, and data privacy.
- Conduct compliance monitoring to identify operational or regulatory gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare compliance reports and management updates while delivering internal compliance training programs.
3.Legal and Contract Management
- Draft, review, and manage commercial contracts, vendor agreements, employment documents, and customer-facing terms.
- Coordinate with external counsel on regulatory matters, disputes, and specialized legal issues.
- Maintain proper legal records, executed agreements, and corporate correspondence.
- Escalate significant legal and regulatory risks to management promptly.
4.Consumer Protection & Corporate Legal Support
- Review customer disclosures, marketing materials, and collection communications to ensure compliance.
- Support complaint handling, dispute resolution, and operational compliance.
- Assist with board resolutions, statutory filings, corporate secretarial matters, and legal aspects of audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) or a related field from a recognized university.
- Solid experience in corporate legal and compliance management in Pakistan, preferably within FinTech, Digital Lending, Banking, or Financial Services.
- Strong knowledge of local regulatory frameworks, corporate governance, and compliance reporting.
- Excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder management skills, fluent in English (working language with HQ).
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
