About the Role
AG&P is seeking a capable, hands-on Legal Counsel to support our growing operations in Vietnam. This is a generalist legal role suited to someone who is comfortable owning a broad range of corporate, commercial, regulatory and company-secretarial matters, and who can move fluidly between Vietnamese and English on legal documents.
A distinctive feature of this role is its bilingual legal-translation responsibility: you will prepare and verify accurate Vietnamese–English versions of contracts, corporate records and regulatory filings. A recognised certified or sworn translation credential is strongly preferred; where a candidate does not yet hold one, we expect demonstrable legal-translation ability and a willingness to obtain certification.
The role is pitched at a mid-level, practitioner profile — strong technical execution and reliability matter more than seniority of title. You will work closely with the Head of Legal and regional colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
What You’ll Do
Legal & commercial
- Draft, review and help negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts — NDAs, term sheets, vendor and service agreements, and contract clarification tables.
- Prepare company documents such as board and shareholder resolutions, powers of attorney and standard template contracts.
- Provide practical legal guidance on day-to-day business operations, procurement and vendor arrangements.
- Conduct legal research, fact-gathering and verification to support business decisions.
Corporate, compliance & regulatory
- Support corporate governance and the maintenance of corporate records, registers and statutory filings.
- Monitor relevant changes in Vietnamese law and regulation and flag business impact.
- Help ensure compliance with licensing, permits, regulatory filings and statutory obligations.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining entities, liaising with external counsel and service providers where needed.
- Maintain the contract database and legal document filing.
Bilingual legal translation
- Produce and verify accurate Vietnamese–English translations of contracts, resolutions, regulatory submissions and correspondence, preserving legal meaning.
- Act as the in-house point of reference for terminology consistency between Vietnamese and English legal documents.
- Coordinate notarised / certified translations with external providers and quality-check their output where required.
What You’ll Bring
Background
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) or equivalent.
- Approximately 4–7 years of relevant legal experience, including corporate/commercial work and company-secretarial / corporate-governance exposure.
- Admission to practise law in Vietnam is preferred but not mandatory for this role; we will consider strong legal generalists who are not bar-admitted.
- Experience in a multinational, in-house legal team or a reputable law firm / corporate-services provider is an advantage.
Language & translation
- Native or near-native Vietnamese and professional written and spoken English.
- A recognised certified / sworn legal-translation credential (Vietnamese–English) is strongly preferred; equivalent demonstrable legal-translation experience considered.
- Comfort working with notarised and legalised documents.
