Our client is a regional owner and developer with a significant pipeline of growth projects across Asia Pacific. As the business continues to invest in new developments and operational capabilities, it is seeking a Legal Counsel to support the delivery of complex projects and strategic commercial arrangements across the region.

Based in Singapore, this position will work closely with senior business leaders and project teams, advising on the legal and commercial aspects of asset development, contractor engagement, supplier relationships and operational support arrangements.

Key Responsibilities of this Legal Counsel, Projects & Procurement:

  • Partner with business stakeholders on the delivery of major development and expansion initiatives across APAC.
  • Lead negotiations for a wide range of commercial agreements relating to project execution, contractor engagement, technical services and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Provide practical advice on contractual risk allocation, project governance and dispute avoidance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support sourcing and vendor-management activities, including the procurement of critical equipment, technical solutions and specialist services.
  • Advise on contract performance, commercial negotiations, change management, milestone delivery and stakeholder obligations.
  • Review supporting project documentation and work closely with internal teams to ensure contractual frameworks remain aligned with funding, operational and risk-management objectives.
  • Assist business teams in navigating complex commercial issues and developing pragmatic solutions to support project timelines.
  • Drive consistency across contracting processes through the development of templates, guidance notes and internal playbooks.

Key Requirements of this Legal Counsel, Projects & Procurement:

  • 5-10+ years’ PQE, gained in private practice and/or an in-house environment.
  • Strong experience advising on large-scale projects, commercial transactions or complex contracting environments.
  • Background in construction, infrastructure, engineering, industrial development, energy, logistics, telecommunications or related sectors would be advantageous.
  • Experience negotiating high-value commercial agreements involving contractors, suppliers, consultants or strategic service providers.
  • Ability to work effectively with commercial, technical and operational teams across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Commercially focused with strong judgment and a solutions-oriented approach.
