Job Description:
Education:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited school
Admission to State Bar in at least one State
Work Experiences:
At least 3-5 years of labor and employment experience with a major law firm or an in-house legal department
Experience with a retail company with at least $1 billion in revenue in a corporate environment preferred
Experience providing advice and counsel and handling litigation related to employment law, including compliance with relevant laws
Significant experience providing advice on labor law issues, including union avoidance and unfair labor practices
Ability to provide practical legal advice, balancing legal risk with business objectives
Prior experience evaluating and assessing risk
Skills:
High professionalism, good judgment, and initiative
Ability to analyze complex contracts and propose solutions
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong organizational and communication skills
Leadership and team management skills
Confidentiality and strategic planning abilities
Responsibilities:
Advise HR and business clients on labor, employment, and benefits compliance
Partner with HR on company policies affecting relationships
Develop partnerships with management and external vendors
Represent company on enterprise-level issues
Manage legal staff and outside counsel
Assist with budgeting and process improvements
Ensure understanding of company policies and safety rules
Physical Requirements & Attendance:
Acceptable hearing and vision levels to perform duties
Adherence to work hours and policies
