Legal Counsel (IP & Licensing Specialist) Jobs in Greater Stockholm Metropolitan Area at Meadow
Title: Legal Counsel (IP & Licensing Specialist)
Company: Meadow
Location: Greater Stockholm Metropolitan Area
About the job
Company description
Meadow is built on a simple but powerful belief: circularity should feel effortless. We have built the world’s first system for reusable aluminium packaging, MEADOW KAPSUL, for personal care, beauty, oral care, home care, and hospitality. By innovating from within existing industrial ecosystems, we enable brands and suppliers to adopt better solutions at scale, quickly, and with minimal operational change. Meadow is not a single product. It is a packaging standard: hardware, standards, and licensing combined into one ecosystem. MEADOW KAPSUL is the next upgrade in packaging, bringing new technology to the global packaging ecosystem.
Role description
Location: Stockholm, Sweden (frequent international travel)
Type: Full-time
Reports to: CEO
We are looking for a Legal Counsel to own the intellectual property position and the licensing architecture of a fast-growing PackTech company as it scales its in-house and licensee launches under our 10×10 strategy. This is a senior, hands-on, build-from-scratch role for someone who comes from IP and wants to shape how an early-stage business protects and monetises what it owns, rather than maintain a portfolio somebody else built.
You will sit close to the founders and the commercial engine of the company. You combine deep IP expertise with commercial judgement, and you are equally comfortable setting patent and trademark strategy, pressure-testing a global partnership agreement for threats and opportunities, and shaping the licensing model itself.
How the role is set up
Meadow works with external patent attorneys, and with external commercial lawyers on the largest strategic partnership agreements. That continues. This role owns the strategy, the portfolio and the licensing architecture, and directs that external work rather than replacing it. Standard and straightforward agreements are drafted in-house, by you.
Main objectives
· Expand and defend the Meadow IP portfolio, including patents and trademarks.
· Lead the development of Meadow’s IP strategy, and of the controlled positions that sit alongside the patents.
· Build and optimise the licensing model and the licensee agreement architecture for Meadow partners.
· Assess external agreements for risk, threats and opportunities, and keep the web of obligations coherent as partners multiply.
· Structure and enable partnerships with strategic partners across the globe.
· Structure and enable client deals and potential off-take agreements. The CCO and the commercial team own the close.
· Improve the Meadow legal onboarding process for partners.
· Direct external patent and legal counsel, and hold the corporate memory as the portfolio and the contract base grow.
Experience:
Required
· A background in IP: qualified patent attorney, or a lawyer with genuine IP specialisation covering patents and trademarks.
· Technical background on the engineering or process side, sufficient to read and assess our patents.
· A proven track record of using IP and legal tools to enable business growth, not only to limit risk.
· Ability to read and pressure-test third-party agreements, and to draft standard agreements independently.
· Understanding of licensee business models and licensing economics.
· Working knowledge of Swedish, UK, and US law.
· Familiarity with the packaging and hardware industry.
· Experience working with global FMCG companies.
Desirable
· Exposure to both private practice and an in-house role.
· Fundraising experience.
· Experience with lobbying and regulatory engagement.
Driven by
· An entrepreneurial environment where you build rather than maintain.
· Sustainability and green tech.
· A global playground with partners and customers across markets.
Who you’ll work with
You will work directly with the CEO, CFO, CCO, and CINO, with our external patent and legal counsel, and with partners and customers around the world.
Compensation
· Competitive salary with strong incentives.
· A meaningful role in a purposeful journey.
· Having fun.
