About the Role
WOGI is looking for a commercially minded Senior Legal Counsel to become our first in-house legal hire, take ownership of legal matters across our growing regional business and build the foundations of our legal function.
You will be WOGI’s principal internal legal adviser, supporting senior management and teams across Sales, Partnerships, Information Security, Finance and People. The role covers commercial contracts, compliance, data protection, corporate governance, employment matters and disputes.
This is a hands-on position for a lawyer who can protect the company’s interests while helping the business move forward responsibly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, draft and negotiate client, merchant agreements.
- Advise on licensing, digital-reward, white-lable arrangements.
- Manage legal and compliance requirements across WOGI’s operating markets.
- Advise on data protection, corporate, employment and regulatory matters.
- Support new products, partnerships and market launches.
- Develop contract templates, legal policies and approval processes.
- Advise management on material legal risks and practical mitigation measures.
- Manage disputes, regulatory inquiries and external counsel.
- Deliver practical legal and compliance guidance to business teams.
What We Are Looking For
- A qualified lawyer with approximately 5–8 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience managing compliance across multiple countries.
- Knowledge of data protection, corporate and employment matters.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A commercial and practical approach to protecting the company’s interests.
- Ability to work independently and communicate confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Strong judgement, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience in fintech, payments, SaaS, e-commerce, technology, loyalty or rewards would be an advantage.
