Position: Legal Counsel Role in Corporate Governance
Be part of Legal Aid Ontario’s mission as a Legal Counsel specializing in corporate governance. This on-site opportunity in Toronto allows you to shape legal strategies effectively.
As a member of the Business Law Team within the General Counsel Office, you will provide expert legal advice on a range of corporate issues and fiscal compliance. You will lead and manage contracts, while also contributing to the development of templates and policies that enhance the organization’s legal framework. Reporting to the Director of Business Law, collaboration and strong communication are key to your success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide guidance on corporate laws and ethical standards
• Draft and negotiate various types of legal agreements
• Prepare analytical briefs and presentations for discussions
• Participate in legal reviews of policies and by-laws
• Oversee activities of external legal counsel when necessary
Requirements:
• Licensed member of the Law Society of Ontario
• Five years or more of relevant legal experience
• Proven contract negotiation expertise
• Capacity to thrive in a team-oriented environment
• Excellent organizational skills under tight deadlines
