We are looking for a highly motivated Legal Counsel specialized in Data Protection and Digital Law to join our Compliance – Data Protection Team.
YOUR IMPACT
In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in ensuring our organization’s compliance with international data protection regulations and supporting our digital transformation initiatives. You will:
- Advise MSC and its subsidiaries globally on data protection matters across jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
- Monitor regulatory developments, evaluate their implications for business operations and proactively report potential legal risks to Management and the Group General Counsel.
- Draft, review, and negotiate data protection agreements.
- Conduct regular reviews of MSC’s data protection governance framework, including the development and global oversight of standards, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with applicable legal requirements.
- Advise and support on international data transfers, including regulatory requirements, and transfer mechanisms.
- Provide legal support for digital initiatives, including projects involving artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
- Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to support legal compliance.
- Coordinate with external legal counsels, as needed.
- Conduct internal training and awareness sessions on data protection and confidentiality.
YOUR BACKGROUND
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- At least 4 years of experience in data protection and digital law, preferably in a multinational or law firm setting.
- Experience in data protection law with a good understanding of the evolving global regulatory landscape, including Swiss FADP, EU GDPR, expanding state-level laws in the U.S., and emerging frameworks in Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and AI-related legal frameworks and good understanding of international data transfer mechanisms.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the appropriate discretion.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable working in a global, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with OneTrust, including its core modules for privacy management, is a plus. A privacy certification (such as, CIPP) is a plus.
- Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
