For our customer in the energy sector, we are searching for a Legal Counsel / Data Protection Officer to combine three responsibilities: strategic and transactional legal support for M&A and corporate cases, ad interim Data Protection Officer (GDPR), and legal guidance from the Innovation Department, with a focus on contracts and intellectual property.
Data Protection
- Acting as a Data Protection Officer ad interim in accordance with the GDPR and applicable national legislation.
- Supervising and advising on compliance with data protection rules within the organization (advising on lawfulness of processing, legal bases, proportionality and data minimization).
- Acting as a point of contact for the Data Protection Authority and data subjects.
- Raising awareness and training of employees in the field of data protection.
Innovation
- Legal guidance from the Innovation / R&D / Digital / Tech Department for innovative projects and collaborations.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts on innovation, including cooperation agreements, licensing and use agreements, proof-of-concept and pilot project contracts, IT agreements.
- Ensuring a correct IP allocation (background/foreground IP) in innovation projects.
- Collaboration with IT and business stakeholders.
General
- For a variety of legal matters and ad hoc problems in order to ensure the proper functioning of the company.
- In addition, the consultant follows up on the latest legislative and regulatory developments in the relevant areas of law.
Additional requirements:
- A master's degree in law.
- Professional experience of up to 7 years in a company or at the bar and can present (other) useful experience (company internships, project follow-up, specialization year, …) preferably in the fields of M&A, IP and privacy/data protection and contract law.
- A good knowledge of civil law remains an asset.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Ability to turn complex legal advice into pragmatic business solutions.
- Understanding the required independence and integrity of the DPO role.
- Familiar with following up on disputes.
- Dedicated and customer-oriented.
- Working independently and in an organized way.
- Enterprising and likes to take on responsibilities.
- Strong in both written and oral communication and you are a driven team player. If necessary, you can act assertively.
- Interesting work appeals to you; You love a challenge, innovation and have an analytical mind.
