About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced in-house data privacy lawyer to join our legal team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on data privacy matters, ensuring compliance with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices. This role is key to supporting Temu's global operations, developing robust compliance programs, and managing legal documentation related to data privacy.
This role is based in our Singapore office.
Main Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the business to assess potential data privacy, security risks, as well as regulatory controls and governance for products and technologies.
- Support the business in building trustworthy, privacy-first products and services.
- Advise on the management and use of data, including privacy matters related to product, marketing, advertising, and data governance practices.
- Provide subject matter expert advice in connection with regulatory investigations, individual complaints, and inquiries.
- Provide subject matter expert advice across all areas of global privacy law and regulation, including on highly regulated and sensitive data.
- Structure, draft, review, and negotiate data protection terms in various commercial agreements.
Qualifications and Abilities
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school or equivalent.
- Active membership in good standing with a recognized bar association.
- Extensive experience in data privacy law, with in-depth knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, PIPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Proven track record of advising on complex data privacy issues, developing compliance programs, and implementing privacy solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess, evaluate, and mitigate risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with both internal stakeholders and external counsel effectively.
