You will join SUEZ Europe & Central Asia, a Business Unit (BU) looking to achieve significant growth in its Water and Waste activities in the countries selected in the Group’s strategic roadmap for the medium-term plan. The ambition is strong, but the BU wants to develop its activities notably in the following countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Serbia, Uzbekistan, and potentially Spain. However, we also need to keep a close eye on the market, so that we can potentially develop in other countries in the region.
Who Are We Looking For
About the Role
We are looking for a Legal Counsel / Contract Manager to oversee and manage all contractual aspects of our business, ensuring compliance with both private and public contract regulations while minimizing legal risks. As part of a dynamic company, you will play a key role in structuring and securing our contractual engagements.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of private and public contracts, including procurement agreements, service contracts, and commercial partnerships.
Ensure compliance with commercial law, public procurement regulations, and contractual obligations.
Identify legal risks in business transactions and propose risk mitigation strategies.
Provide strategic legal advice to management on contract-related matters and regulatory compliance.
Support contract execution, amendments, and dispute resolution processes.
Monitor legal developments and ensure their integration into company practices.
Collaborate closely with internal teams (finance, procurement, operations) to optimize contract management.
Manage external legal advisors when necessary.
Which skills and experiences you will need to succeed in this role?
Qualifications & Skills
Law degree (LL.B, LL.M, or equivalent) with a focus on contract law or commercial law.
5 to 7 years of experience in contract management, legal advisory, or a similar role, preferably in a corporate or SME environment.
Strong expertise in private contracts, public procurement, and commercial law.
Proactively identify legal issues at the earliest opportunity and develop and implement strategies to address them.
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
Ability to work autonomously and provide pragmatic legal solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Fluent in English, Russian and Uzbek (additional languages are a plus).
Experience in regulated industries (e.g., infrastructure, energy, public services) is an advantage.
