We are working with a highly regarded organisation operating across the UK and internationally, delivering complex, high-value engineering solutions across the commercial, data centre, industrial and infrastructure sectors. With a strong pipeline of prestigious projects and continued growth, the business is looking to appoint a Construction Solicitor into its in-house legal team. This is a key hire, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and play a central role in supporting projects from tender stage through to completion. You will be joining a collaborative and expanding legal function, acting as a trusted advisor to both bid teams and project managers, ensuring commercial risk is effectively managed across the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End / Tender Support:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a high volume of construction contracts, including sub-contracts, professional appointments and collateral warranties
  • Providing clear, commercially focused and risk-based advice on high-value tenders
  • Ensuring contracts align with the organisation’s risk appetite and insurance requirements

Project Support (Live Matters):

  • Acting as a key legal contact for project teams throughout delivery
  • Advising on contract administration issues, including variations, extensions of time (EOT), and loss & expense
  • Supporting early identification of issues and dispute avoidance strategies

General Commercial:

  • Assisting with wider legal matters including NDAs, framework agreements and general commercial queries
  • Managing external counsel where specialist advice is required

Compliance & Training:

  • Supporting the business on legal and regulatory compliance (e.g. Building Safety Act, procurement considerations)
  • Delivering practical training to internal teams on contract awareness and risk

Candidate Profile

  • UK qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction law
  • Strong experience in non-contentious construction matters, ideally including:
  • JCT contracts
  • NEC contracts
  • Experience advising on construction contracts, sub-contracts and project documentation
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with non-legal stakeholders

Why Apply?

  • Work on high-profile, technically complex projects across the UK and internationally
  • Join a growing in-house legal team with strong visibility across the business
  • Gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from tender through to delivery
  • Collaborative, fast-paced environment with a strong emphasis on commercial decision-making
