About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled Legal Counsel, Compliance to join our dynamic Legal Team in Kuala Lumpur. This role offers an exciting opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a company at the forefront of the data center industry. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a leading company in the fast-paced data center industry while focusing primarily on compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the implementation and management of DayOne’s compliance programs, ensuring daily procedures, investigations, and due diligence in commercial transactions are effectively handled.

Provide expert advice on a wide range of compliance matters, including FCPA, anti-bribery/anti-corruption, export controls, sanctions, data privacy, and cybersecurity.

Draft and review commercial agreements (such as NDAs, services agreements, real estate leasing agreements, procurement agreements, commercial agreements for complex business transactions) and participate in meetings and negotiations with internal and external parties.

Stay ahead of regulatory changes, monitor relevant laws in jurisdictions DayOne operates in, and proactively update policies and stakeholders.

Engage with third parties, regulatory bodies, and government authorities on compliance matters.

Coordinate with external law firms to manage court and arbitration processes, ensuring timely resolution and legal support.

Requirements:

An LLB or higher from a reputable university in a common law jurisdiction.

Qualified to practice law in Malaysia, with qualifications or experience in other common law jurisdictions being a strong advantage.

More than 5 years of experience at a top-tier international or regional law firm (Malaysia/Singapore).

Must have over 5 years of hands-on experience in compliance.

Must have experience in US regulatory compliance.

Strong command of English (native speaker preferred); proficiency in Chinese is a plus.

Exceptional English drafting and negotiation skills.
