About the Role :
The Legal Counsel position reports to the Associate General Counsel in APAC and is responsible for serving as the legal advisor to Olympus Korea. The Legal Counsel will oversee legal matters for the company’s medical device business and corporate structure. The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice to stakeholders for contractual/corporate law, intellectual property, litigation, regulatory, and corporate governance matters.

Legal Consultation and Legal / Project Risk Management
Legal Support: Contract, Negotiation and Due Diligence
Internal Investigation and Compliance Issue Support
Labor Union Issue Management
Legal Team Management
External Legal Counsel Management
Requirements :
Education:
J.D. from an accredited Korean law school
Licensed to practice law in accordance with Korean bar requirements
Skills & Experience:
6-9 years’ experience as lawyer (in-house or law firm)
Minimum 3 years of working at a medical device company/pharmaceutical company or at a law firm on such issues is preferred. Experience in working at a multinational company is preferred
Experience in working at labor union issues, especially as a member of the bargaining member is preferred
Strong leadership skills and proven ability to effectively manage legal tasks and department operations.
Business supportive and agile mind set
Accountability and ownership for the legal advice which will be provided
Capability to cope short timelines and constrains, which are not under control
Extensive experience drafting and negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements, including sales contracts, supply and distribution agreements, license agreements, and government contracts.
Familiarity with FTC, import/export laws, privacy regulations, licensing requirements, labor law and other laws and regulations applicable to commercial business is a plus.
Experience working in a highly regulated industry, and interacting with, and responding to, federal and state regulators is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a positive professional image.
Travels as needed to support business requirements
Native in Korean and Fluent in English (able to draft contracts, participate in conference calls)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
