The Legal Counsel is responsible to provide legal advice for the Plaza Premium Group (PPG) to support business objectives and legal requirements. The legal portfolio covers legal corporate and commercial matters for PPG including reviewing and drafting of commercial contracts, legal documents and any other related documents.
What you’ll be doing –
Review/drafts and advise on all legal related issues, documents, agreements, legal opinions, etc. as per job scope.
Liaise with internal stakeholders (HQ, regional and local) including providing strategic legal advice, attending meetings, calls and coordinating with external counsels.
Handle RFP of external counsels – source, negotiate, prepare summary for approval.
Liaise, follow-up, monitor and conduct meetings/calls with external counsels on legal matters.
Review, check and endorse legal invoices, arrange for approvals for payments.
Arranging for execution of documents where required.
Record and maintain contract register and files for own matters.
Such other legal/related matters requested by Global Director from time to time.
What you’ll need –
Candidate must be called to the Bar (Malaysia or any Commonwealth country).
Preferably with 5-8 years of PQE with at least 3 years in legal practice and remainder as in-house counsel.
Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
Good drafting skills & good knowledge of commercial and corporate law.
Good English language skills. Knowledge of written and verbal Mandarin is a must.
Experience in regional roles in China and North Asia will be an advantage.
Able to work in a fast-paced business environment and within tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented with a strong commercial acumen.
