Role Overview

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal function in Malta and provide practical, commercially focused legal support across the Group.

The role will have a strong focus on corporate and governance matters, intellectual property, customer complaints and disputes, and commercial contracts, while also providing exposure to regulatory and other legal matters relevant to an international online gaming business.

The successful candidate will be expected to manage routine legal matters independently, work directly with internal stakeholders and support the Head of Legal on more complex, strategic or higher-risk matters.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate & Governance

  • Support corporate governance and company secretarial matters across Group companies.
  • Prepare and review board and shareholder resolutions, powers of attorney, corporate approvals and related documentation.
  • Support incorporations, restructurings, changes in directors and officers, share transfers and other corporate transactions.
  • Coordinate corporate filings and maintain corporate records.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on routine corporate law and governance matters.

Intellectual Property

  • Support the management and protection of the Group’s trademarks, domain names and other brand assets.
  • Coordinate trademark applications, renewals and assignments.
  • Review and advise on IP provisions in commercial agreements.
  • Assist with brand protection, infringement and domain-related matters.

Customer Complaints, Disputes & Litigation

  • Provide legal support in relation to customer complaints, disputes and claims arising from the Group’s online gaming operations.
  • Review and advise on escalated customer complaints and disputes.
  • Draft responses to formal complaints, pre-action correspondence and legal claims.
  • Support litigation, including coordinating with external counsel where required.
  • Work with Customer Support, Compliance, Responsible Gaming, Payments and other teams when investigating complaints and claims.

Commercial Contracts

  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including supplier, technology, licensing, marketing, consultancy and confidentiality agreements.
  • Advise stakeholders on contractual rights, obligations and risks.
  • Support contract amendments, assignments and terminations.
  • Assist with maintaining legal templates and contracting processes.

General Legal Support

  • Provide practical legal advice to stakeholders across the business.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research relevant to the Group’s operations.
  • Support gaming regulatory and licensing matters where required.
  • Assist with employment, data protection and other legal matters as needed.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisers and monitor relevant legal developments.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in law from a recognised university.
  • Around 2–4 years of relevant legal experience, gained in private practice, in-house or both.
  • Strong experience in corporate law and governance.
  • Experience with intellectual property matters.
  • Experience handling customer complaints, disputes or contentious matters.
  • Good experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Strong legal drafting, research and analytical skills.
  • Commercially minded and able to provide clear, practical advice.
  • Comfortable managing routine matters independently and knowing when to escalate.
