We employ roughly 170 employees at our office in Amstelveen, the Netherlands, divided over two entities, being LG Electronics Benelux Sales B.V. and LG Electronics European Shared Center B.V.
Position Summary
LG Electronics Benelux is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Legal Counsel to support the Benelux legal function and serve as a strategic advisor to senior management.
You will oversee all legal matters related to commercial contracting, competition law, GDPR compliance, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
As a key business partner, you will play a critical role in enabling sustainable growth, mitigating legal risk, and fostering a strong culture of ethics and compliance across LG Electronics Benelux.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Legal Advisory
- Serve as the legal advisor to senior management and business leaders across the Benelux region.
- Provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal support to support business objectives while managing risk.
- Advise on strategic initiatives, new business models, partnerships, and corporate projects.
- Translate legal and regulatory developments into practical business guidance.
Commercial Law
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage complex commercial agreements, including:
- Sales and distribution agreements
- Procurement and supplier contracts
- Marketing and sponsorship agreements
- Service agreements
- E-commerce and technology-related contracts
- Software licensing and SaaS agreements
- Develop and maintain contract templates and legal processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
Competition & Antitrust Law
- Organize competition law compliance initiatives across the Benelux organization.
- Advise on pricing structures, distribution arrangements, market practices, and customer relationships.
- Identify and mitigate antitrust risks in commercial decision-making.
- Develop and deliver competition law training programs for business stakeholders.
Data Privacy & GDPR
- Act as legal advisor on privacy and data protection matters.
- Oversee GDPR compliance and privacy governance initiatives.
- Review and negotiate Data Processing Agreements and international data transfer arrangements.
- Advise on data breaches, investigations, privacy impact assessments, and regulatory inquiries.
- Collaborate with regional and global compliance teams to ensure alignment with LG standards.
Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of compliance frameworks.
- Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments affecting LG Electronics Benelux.
- Manage external legal counsel and legal spend where required.
- Support investigations, audits, disputes, and regulatory interactions.
- Ensure strong governance practices and legal compliance throughout the organization.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent).
- Qualified lawyer/admitted to practice in an EU jurisdiction preferred.
Experience
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Experience in a multinational corporate environment and/or leading international law firm.
- Proven expertise in:
- Commercial and contract law
- EU competition and antitrust law
- GDPR and privacy law
- Previous experience managing or mentoring legal professionals.
- Experience working with senior management and cross-functional leadership teams.
