Are you an experienced legal professional looking to make a meaningful impact in the renewable energy sector? Our client, a leading renewable energy developer focused on solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their dynamic team in Brisbane.
About the Role:
As Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and leading the end-to-end legal process across the organisation’s projects. You will manage and oversee external legal counsel, as well as provide essential legal advice to internal stakeholders. The role will cover a broad range of legal matters, particularly within the renewable energy sector, including solar and BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the legal aspects of renewable energy projects, from inception through to execution.
Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior leadership and various business units.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including project development, financing, and procurement agreements.
Oversee and manage external legal counsel as required, ensuring optimal outcomes for the business.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
Support in dispute resolution and risk management.
Assist with corporate governance and internal legal policies.
Skills & Experience:
A law degree and admission to practice as a lawyer in Australia.
4+ years’ experience in a legal role, ideally within the renewable energy, construction, infrastructure,, property or energy sectors.
Strong experience in drafting and negotiating contracts, including project agreements and financing arrangements.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage external legal resources and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
A keen interest in renewable energy and sustainability.
