The Role

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Lisbon, Portugal, reporting to the Head of Legal, Iberia. As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting Sonnedix’s legal strategy, risk management and compliance across our Portuguese operations. Working closely with the Head of Legal, Iberia and cross-functional colleagues, you will provide hands-on legal support across a wide range of matters — from complex energy transactions and project financing to commercial contracts and local governance — contributing directly to the growth and success of our business in Portugal.

Beyond transactional work, the Legal Counsel will be a trusted legal partner to local and global teams — supporting employment, property, corporate secretarial matters and ensuring compliance with Sonnedix’s global policies. You will bring a commercial and proactive mindset to every challenge, building strong relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be part of a collaborative, close-knit team where your contribution matters from day one, in a company whose culture — dynamic, agile and purpose-driven — is a genuine competitive advantage.

Desirable skills:

  • Qualified lawyer with proven experience in energy, infrastructure, M&A or project finance, ideally gained in private practice and/or an in-house environment.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with hands-on experience across a range of commercial agreements (e.g. EPC, O&M, PPAs, DSAs, ISDA).
  • Solid understanding of Portuguese law and regulatory framework; knowledge of Spanish law is a plus.
  • Experience managing local governance and corporate secretarial matters, including employment and property-related legal support.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English; Spanish is an advantage. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

AI & Digital Literacy :

  • Comfortable using AI and digital tools (e.g. Copilot, Claude or similar) to optimise day-to-day legal work, improve efficiency and enhance the quality of legal output.

In line with EU pay transparency requirements, salary ranges will be shared with candidates in the EU before progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process, and always before interview. This range reflects the typical starting pay for new hires. Pay above this level may apply in specific circumstances based on experience, skills, or role scope.
