Key Responsibilities
Contract Drafting and Review
- Draft, review and amend commercial agreements, including procurement, sales, service and other business contracts.
Contract Risk Assessment
- Identify legal risks in key contract terms, including payment, delivery, liability, indemnity, termination and dispute resolution clauses.
Contract Compliance and Templates
- Ensure contracts comply with Malaysian laws, company policies and internal approval processes. Maintain and standardise contract templates.
Contract Management
- Monitor contract execution, flag potential disputes or non-compliance issues, and recommend practical risk mitigation actions.
HR Legal Support
- Support employment-related legal matters, including employment documents, employee lifecycle matters, disciplinary issues and labour disputes.
Corporate Legal Advisory
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to internal departments on commercial, HR, procurement, sales and operational matters.
Compliance Management
- Conduct compliance checks and internal reviews in line with Malaysian statutory requirements and Amsted Group compliance guidelines.
Legal Updates and Ad Hoc Support
- Monitor legal updates, support policy improvements, conduct basic legal/compliance training, maintain records and handle ad hoc legal tasks.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Law, with strong knowledge of Malaysian laws and regulations.
- 3–5 years of full-time legal experience in Malaysia, preferably in corporate commercial legal affairs, contract review, procurement, sales contracts or HR legal matters.
- Strong understanding of Malaysian commercial law, contract law, employment law and relevant local regulatory requirements.
- Experienced in reviewing commercial contracts, identifying legal risks, drafting amendments and providing practical risk mitigation solutions.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, with proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin required. Detail-oriented, responsible, commercially aware and able to work independently with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
