Job Purpose
The Legal Counsel’s main responsibilities are to perform a variety of Legal tasks on a daily basis such as handling day-to-day letters, preparing contracts, commercial and labor litigation, lawsuits filed by or against the Company, contract disputes, class actions, representing the company in governmental, semi-governmental and private sectors before courts, as well as providing legal consultations
Responsibilities
Legal Advisory
Provide legal support to the various internal departments.
Provide consultations on internal cases to provide support and guidance.
Quality assurance of legal advice sessions and outreaches.
Contracts & Documentation
Develop, assess, and negotiate contracts, consulting, service, consignments, terms and conditions and commercial documents for business units in all relevant areas.
Ensure consistency of contract terms with relevant Laws and Regulations and the Company internal policy and procedure.
Expedite and review contracts received from the Company’s departments, suppliers, customers and third parties.
Review and negotiate contracts to reduce and mitigate the risks.
Work with senior legal counsel, contracts paralegals, external law firms and the Company’s business units to develop contract strategies.
Lead to review best practices to enhance contracts review processes and workflow.
Review contracts according to Legal standards.
Draft and prepare contracts (internally and/or externally).
Attend meetings to negotiate contract terms and review Legal and financial documents from a Legal perspective.
Ensure implementation of the Legal system.
Assess bid openings upon request.
Coordinate with third party to guarantee terms of contracts are fulfilled in compliance.
Ensure all parties of the contract has appropriate Legal representation throughout the contract negotiations and signature.
Initial and approve all contracts before final signature.
Review all Legal and official documents before being issued by the departments.
Reviewing and amending Company Policy and Regulations.
Review legally the employee dismissal decisions.
Legal Research
To develop legal knowledge and to keep in touch with the new laws, regulations, and their amendments, and to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Conducts research and keeps current on all rules and regulations by accessing statutes, legislative materials manuals and websites.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Law.
2+ years’ legal work experience with contracts.
