We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our dynamic and multinational legal & compliance team within the Global Legal Affairs Department of Besins Healthcare. The successful candidate will provide legal support across regulatory affairs, medical affairs, marketing, and ensure GDPR compliance. This role reports to the Legal IP Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Direction of Scientific Affairs, including Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing and other departments to deliver business solutions aligned with legal requirements, company policies, and the Besins Healthcare Code of Conduct.
  • Stay current on healthcare laws and guidelines, anticipate legal issues, and propose strategies to optimize outcomes while managing risk.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex legal matters impacting Medical Affairs, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and GDPR compliance.
  • Be one of the referring legal counsels for Scientific Affairs.

Regulatory Affairs

  • Provide legal guidance and support for regulatory documents and requests in collaboration with the Corporate Paralegal Officer, as well as general legal support where required.

Medical Affairs

  • Advise on agreements, including clinical trial contracts, grants, and sponsorships within the respect of the Code of Conduct and the policies of Besins Healthcare.
  • Act as the primary legal contact for Medical Affairs.
  • Assess legal risks and work with senior leadership to implement policies, training, and preventive measures.

Marketing

  • Assist the Medical Affairs department with agreements.
  • Review promotional materials for legal compliance.
  • Be the primary legal contact for Marketing.

GDPR Compliance

  • Ensure global compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations.
  • Develop and maintain data protection policies in collaboration with outsourced DPOs.
  • Conduct impact assessments and advise on data processing activities, including responses to data subject requests.

General Legal Support

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Marketing.
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution in coordination with the General Counsel.
  • Manage outside counsel, including budgeting and engagement protocols.
  • Contribute to legal strategies, risk management initiatives, and business development projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) or equivalent from a recognized European university.
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in corporate or law firm settings.
  • Strong knowledge of EU pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, GDPR, and pharmaceutical marketing law.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multinational environment.
  • Fluency in English; French or other European languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Certifications in data protection or regulatory compliance (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM).
  • Experience with transnational legal issues, scientific affairs and pharmaceutical marketing.
