Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Counsel to join our team. This role serves as a key legal advisor to the Group and is structured to provide comprehensive legal support which primarily focuses on investment-related matters including fund structuring, M&A, regulatory compliance, and legal due diligence— while also supporting group-level legal matters and strategic projects across the organization.Â
This role requires solid expertise in the asset management industry, specifically in KYC/AML compliance. In addition to investment-focused work, the role involves providing general legal advice and support to Group’s affiliated entities across multiple jurisdictions. You will serve as a trusted advisor, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct legal due diligence on investment targets and counterparties.
Provide legal support for direct and indirect investments in private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and venture capital.
Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., AIFMD, SEC, MAS, SFC, FATCA, CRS, AML/KYC).
Liaise with regulatory bodies and manage regulatory filings and inquiries.
Support global compliance initiatives and regulatory audits.
Assist with board communications, resolutions, and corporate secretarial matters.
Maintain legal entity documentation and support internal governance structures.
Develop, update and manage legal templates, legal portals, and knowledge management systems.
Select, engage, and manage external legal counsel, ensuring quality and cost-effective service delivery.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to the affiliated entities and other internal stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to achieve favorable legal outcomes aligned with business objectives.
Act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, advising on commercial initiatives and operational decisions.
Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across business activities.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents and agreements.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
EducationÂ
LLB from a recognized university or equivalent.Â
Experiences
Minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally with in-house legal experience in financial institutional settings or a finance-focused legal firm.
Experience with KYC/AML in licensed financial institutions is highly preferred.Â
Exposure to the Crypto sector or regulatory bodies such as FCA or MAS will be an advantage.

Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
Able to manage multiple legal projects independently
Fluent in English with a good command of Mandarin is a must
Discreet, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced and confidential environment.
