Job Overview
The Legal Counsel role is a key member of our legal team, responsible for providing legal support and advice to various departments within our Indonesian company. This position requires independent project-management abilities, strong legal research and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication abilities to effectively collaborate with internal teams and governmental departments.

What You Will Achieve
Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to POP MART’s retail business operation in Indonesia, including but not limited to leases, construction agreements, promotion agreements. Organize contract approval matrix and manage the contract archive.
Conduct legal research and manage legal risks in relation to POP MART’s offline and online business, including but not limited to importation and exportation compliance, labeling and marking, advertising compliance, data protection regulations, industry trends, labor laws, and consumer protection requirements in Indonesia.
Oversee the protection of the company’s intellectual property rights in Indonesia, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents; review and negotiate IP licensing and related contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with applicable Indonesian laws and in the best interest of the company.
Liaise with external legal counsel and government agencies in Indonesia to ensure smooth operations and compliance with legal obligations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide practical legal solutions.
Assist headquarters (HQ) legal team with legal affairs related to audits, shareholding structure adjustments, M&A, and other legal matters assigned from time to time.
Participate in legal training sessions to enhance the legal knowledge and skills of internal teams.
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree or above in Law. LLM or JD is a preference, with eligibility to practice law in Indonesia; overseas legal practice qualifications are also preferred.
Possess legal qualification with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant legal experience; legal counsel experience for the retail business is preferred.
Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to independently complete projects and interpret and apply complex legal provisions under Indonesian law.
Solid understanding of contract law, commercial law, and relevant industry regulations in Indonesia.
Proficient in legal software and technology tools, as well as Microsoft Office suite.
Desired Skills
Experience in a multinational corporation, or retail industry would be an advantage.
Native speaker of Bahasa Indonesia with advanced proficiency in English is a must; other foreign language skills are a plus.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
Creative thinker with the ability to provide innovative legal solutions to complex problems.
