Our client is a leading global Internet Exchange (IX) provider and currently started up in Australia. They are seeking a Legal and Compliance Specialist.

Role Overview:
As a Legal and Compliance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company’s legal and regulatory adherence across multiple jurisdictions. This role requires strong organizational skills, legal acumen, and the ability to manage cross-border compliance matters. You will work closely with internal teams and external legal advisors to support business operations and mitigate legal risks.
Key Responsibilities
External Legal Coordination: Research, engage, and manage relationships with law firms to ensure regulatory compliance and legal support.
Contract Management: Review, draft, and oversee commercial contracts, NDAs, and agreements to align with legal requirements.
Regulatory Compliance: Assist in maintaining compliance with Australian and international legal standards.
Legal Administration: Maintain legal documentation, track contract deadlines, and support corporate governance requirements.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential legal risks and collaborate with internal stakeholders on mitigation strategies.
Cross-Border Collaboration: Work with legal and compliance teams across multiple regions, including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, the US, Europe, the Philippines, and Australia.
Skills & Experience
Experience in a corporate legal department, paralegal role, or compliance function (legal qualification not required).
Knowledge of contract management, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance in Australia.
Familiarity with FCC (US) and GDPR (EU) regulations (preferred but not mandatory).
Experience in legal compliance within the telecommunications industry is advantageous.
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage legal matters independently.
Prior experience working with external law firms and legal service providers.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, start-up environment with minimal supervision.
