Join a fast-growing insurance start-up backed by an established APAC insurance solutions group with a long track record of supporting leading insurers across the region. As the business launches its own insurance platform in Japan, this is a rare opportunity to become a founding member and play a key role in shaping the legal, compliance, and risk framework from the ground up. Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will have significant visibility and influence as the company enters its next phase of growth.
Your new role
- Lead compliance, legal, and risk management activities for the Japan business
- Review and draft contracts, internal policies, and corporate regulations
- Review advertising, marketing, and insurance-related materials from a compliance perspective
- Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory stakeholders
- Develop and maintain compliance programmes, policies, and internal controls
- Conduct risk assessments and support enterprise risk management initiatives
- Manage conflict of interest and governance-related matters
- Prepare regulatory reports, disclosures, and submissions to relevant authorities
What you’ll need to succeed
- Fluent Japanese
- Experience within Legal and/or Compliance at an insurance company
- Experience dealing with financial services regulations and compliance frameworks
- Exposure to risk management is highly preferred
- Experience interacting with regulators is advantageous
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Business-level English
- Self-starter who enjoys working in a growing and entrepreneurial environment
