JOB TITLE: Paralegal Assistant (Litigation)
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Full-time; M-F 8:30 – 5:00; 37.5 hours/week
LOCATION: Denver, CO office (hybrid work environment)
REPORTS TO: Regional Office Administrator

POSITION SUMMARY
The Paralegal Assistant is a full-time, non-exempt position based in our Denver, CO office. This role is responsible for proactively providing direct billable and administrative support to the attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice group. The individual will be working in a dynamic environment that requires excellent organization, handling a multitude of tasks simultaneously, independent thinking and self-direction, the ability to work well with people, and determination to get the job done.

These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the hourly rate for this position to start between $30.28 and $39.80, and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.​

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrative assistants with filings, drafts, and other administrative tasks in order to complete case-related tasks, functions, organization, etc. and to process projects in a timely manner.
​Interact with clients and firm staff at all levels in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Maintain accurate filing and organizational systems of both paper and electronic files with the highest regard for ease of use and timely retrieval of documents.
Review documents received from clients, third parties, opposing counsel etc. and mark for privilege/importance/need for production etc. and create corresponding chronologies of documents to aid attorneys in developing timeline of case.
Assist with database updates and data management.
Create binders of key documents or requested documents for depositions, hearings, trials, etc.
Assist with the preparation and drafting of legal documents, including discovery requests, deposition notices, subpoenas, motions, and other pleadings.
Prepare closing document packets, calendar deadlines, and assist with getting monthly bills to clients.
Assist with e-discovery including review and identification of responsive documents for production to
opposing party, as well as, review and categorization of documents provided in response to discovery
requests.
Communicate effectively and professionally with courts, clients, and opposing counsel when needed.
E-file court documents.
Perform research as needed.
Prepare correspondence with third parties/experts. Keep all experts up-to-date on documents that have been produced so that they can develop expert opinions. Coordinate with third parties to set up depositions, follow up on records requested, contact court clerks etc.
Download pleadings and other court documents, docket deadlines, and maintain electronic case files.
Proofread, check citations, and pull exhibits for motions.
Proactively manage busy calendars, prioritizing meeting requests with internal and external groups.
Interface with clients and other outside entities regarding assigned matters.
Contribute to the overall team effort by working with all members and levels of the firm.
Independently use sound judgment and initiative to develop project timelines, and then successfully execute against established deadlines.
Track and record time in Intapp to ensure services provided are appropriately charged.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
3-5 years’ administrative experience in the legal field
Litigation practice experience highly preferred
Undergraduate degree and/or paralegal certificate required
Execution-oriented, self-starter, and self-navigator who can prioritize tasks and balance the demands of multiple projects and stakeholders
Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational and time management abilities, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and proactive business style
Strong Microsoft Office skills required, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position is generally sedentary in nature; involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time
Ability to occasionally or routinely lift up 10 – 20 lbs. required
Ability to effectively communicate
Ability to perform repetitive motions required
Ability to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print
