You’ll also work closely with the APAC Bids team (Bids Manager + Bids Executive) and collaborate with colleagues across Asia.
About the Role
Reporting into the Head of BD, you’ll operate as a key senior member of the Australian BD team, leading strategic initiatives, driving market positioning, and supporting partners across selected practice groups.
- You’ll manage a team of 2–3 direct reports
- Leading BD strategy and execution across assigned practice groups
- Coaching and developing BD Executives and Assistants
- Partnering with partners on client development, pursuits, and profile‑raising
- Overseeing key campaigns, thought leadership, and market initiatives
- Ensuring best‑practice use of CRM (InterAction) and BD systems
- Driving consistency, quality, and commercial discipline across BD activity
About You
You’ll bring a blend of strategic capability, people leadership, and hands‑on delivery. Ideal candidates will have:
- 5–8+ years’ experience in business development (in legal or professional services firms)
- Previous people management experience
- Experience working within a law firm or partnership environment
- Strong knowledge of the Australian legal market
- Experience with CRM systems (InterAction highly regarded)
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Confident communication style with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Broad knowledge of key legal sectors and practice groups
