The Bank Regulatory and Deposits Legal team seeks a lawyer based in the New York office to support the firm’s bank deposit activities, with a focus on the intersection between the firm’s U.S. bank and broker dealer, including in particular the firm’s Private Wealth Management business. Bank Regulatory and Deposits Legal advises the firm globally from a U.S. bank regulatory perspective and provides legal, regulatory, reputational and transactional support to our individual and institutional deposit businesses.

This lawyer will advise on all aspects of deposit-related legal and regulatory matters, including reviewing product designs and providing strategic input, drafting disclosures and other customer documentation, coordinating with business and compliance colleagues on policies and procedures, reviewing service arrangements with significant vendors, performing legal research on key issues, engaging external counsel and providing general legal support to all functions. This lawyer will work closely with our broker dealer business and the Legal team that covers the Private Wealth Management business, as well as other Legal, Compliance & Risk colleagues globally, and is expected to forge substantive relationships within the firm as well as externally to support the growth of the deposits platform.

Responsibilities

Providing legal, regulatory, reputational, and transactional advice to deposit-taking businesses on existing, as well as the development of new, products and services

Supporting management of the firm’s U.S. bank subsidiary in understanding and meeting regulatory obligations

Drafting customer agreements and disclosures for deposits products

Monitoring legal, regulatory, and market developments, including participating in advocacy on proposed rules and engaging with trade associations

Working with businesses and support functions to develop policies, procedures, and controls

Coordinating with Legal counterparts that cover the firm’s Private Wealth Management business

Qualifications

JD admitted to practice law

7+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house at a financial institution

Experience in private or consumer banking or wealth management products strongly preferred

Ability to work proactively and independently, collaborate effectively with stakeholders throughout the firm, including senior leadership, work well in high-pressure situations, juggle priorities, and manage external counsel

Excellent judgment and ability to assess risk

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $170000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
