Legal Associate, Tech / TMT

Septten Advisors | Remote | Full-time

About Septten Advisors

Septten Advisors is a legal and strategic advisory firm working with founders, investors and high-growth businesses across technology, fintech, digital assets, payments, venture capital, market entry and cross-border growth.

We do not operate like a traditional volume-driven law firm. Our work is practical, commercial and execution-focused. Clients come to us when they need clear advice, well-drafted documents and judgement that can be used in real business decisions.

We are now looking for a Legal Associate to support a growing pipeline of corporate, commercial, technology and regulatory advisory work.

The Role

This is a full-time remote role for an India-qualified Legal Associate with approximately 2 to 4 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally with a background in technology, TMT, fintech, startups or commercial advisory work.

You will work closely with the founder of Septten Advisors on client matters involving commercial contracts, corporate structuring, fundraising support, governance, regulatory research, market entry and day-to-day legal operations for founders and growth companies.

This role is best suited to someone who enjoys working across different matters, can move quickly without sacrificing accuracy and is comfortable converting complex legal and regulatory issues into clear, practical advice.

Key Responsibilities

The Legal Associate will be expected to:

  1. draft, review and revise commercial agreements, including services agreements, NDAs, vendor agreements, partnership arrangements, technology agreements and consultancy agreements;
  2. support corporate and investment matters, including shareholder documentation, investment agreements, board and shareholder approvals, corporate authorities and closing checklists;
  3. conduct legal and regulatory research across technology, fintech, payments, financial services, virtual assets, market entry and corporate structuring matters;
  4. prepare concise client-facing notes, memos, emails and risk summaries that are commercially useful rather than academic;
  5. assist with legal and regulatory analysis for companies operating across multiple jurisdictions, including the UAE, India, the wider GCC and other growth markets;
  6. help manage matter trackers, document lists, action points, version control and client follow-ups;
  7. contribute to internal templates, playbooks, research notes and knowledge management materials; and
  8. work directly with clients and counterparties where appropriate, including on calls, emails and document negotiation workstreams.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who has:

  1. an Indian law degree and admission to practise in India;
  2. approximately 2 to 4 years’ post-qualification experience;
  3. experience in technology, TMT, fintech, startups, venture capital, commercial contracts or corporate advisory work;
  4. strong drafting skills and the ability to produce clean, structured and client-ready work;
  5. good legal research skills, including the ability to analyse unfamiliar regulatory issues quickly and accurately;
  6. strong attention to detail, particularly in defined terms, cross-references, document consistency and version control;
  7. clear written communication skills in English;
  8. comfort working remotely, independently and across multiple active matters;
  9. sound commercial judgement and the ability to distinguish between theoretical legal risk and practical business risk; and
  10. a high degree of ownership, reliability and responsiveness.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be helpful:

  1. technology contracts, SaaS agreements, data protection, outsourcing, platform terms or digital product documentation;
  2. fintech, payments, virtual assets, financial services or regulatory advisory work;
  3. venture capital transactions, shareholder arrangements or startup fundraising;
  4. cross-border corporate structuring or market entry projects;
  5. working with founders, in-house legal teams, startups or growth-stage companies; and
  6. prior experience in a law firm, boutique advisory firm, in-house legal team or founder-led legal environment.

Who This Role Is Not For

This role is unlikely to be the right fit for someone looking for a narrow practice area, a heavily supervised junior role or purely academic legal research. The work requires practical judgement, direct drafting responsibility and the ability to operate in a fast-moving environment.

Working Style

This is a remote role. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, managing deadlines and being available for reasonable overlap with UAE working hours.

Septten Advisors values clear thinking, precise drafting, practical advice and responsiveness. The role will involve close collaboration, but it will also require the ability to take ownership of tasks and progress them without constant prompting.
