Full Job Description

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the office.

The essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Prepare and revise legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and e-mails from written form as well as from transcription

Assemble documents and exhibits for court filings and recordings, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, depositions or other engagements

Proofread prepared materials to ensure documents are free from typographical and grammatical errors and are formatted according to Firm standards

Read, sort and print incoming mail, and e-mails and distribute as appropriate

Schedule appointments and meetings for attorneys

Manage and maintain calendars for deadlines; ensure important dates are recorded on the master calendar

Maintain client files and chron files

Monitor and track deadlines to ensure compliance with court rules and procedures

Arrange travel for attorneys including hotel, airline, and transportation

Qualifications/Requirements:

Prior litigation legal secretary experience (state and federal court filing).

Eminent Domain/Inverse Condemnation experience a plus, although not necessary.

Comprehensive knowledge of California court procedures, including state and federal levels, with a strong emphasis on e-filing procedures.

Proficiency in legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.

Ability to type, read, and write in order to proofread and perform initial input and revisions to legal documents, correspondence, memoranda and e-mail.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite and knowledge of document management systems such as iManage, NetDocs.

Ability to organize and prioritize workflow for multiple attorneys.

Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate verbally, in writing and by telephone in a professional manner with clients, attorneys, vendors and staff.

Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, transcription equipment, fax machine and advanced functions on photocopier.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
