Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position assists with the company’s compliance with all state and federal environmental regulations. The position provides subject matter expertise on complex regulatory requirements affecting the company’s operations in Texas, specifically related to air, water, and waste regulatory compliance. The position further serves as a liaison between the Legal Services Department and the company’s management and operation functions to ensure that the company’s interests are protected and regulatory obligations are fulfilled. Some crossover and interaction with the company’s Louisiana operations may be necessary.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Regulatory Compliance: Monitor, interpret, and apply environmental regulations, including but not limited to air regulator, water regulations, waste regulations. Develop and maintain regulatory compliance programs, policies, and training. Assist in preparation and submission of required regulatory filings.
Initiate Action and Function as the Critical Liaison: Facilitate regulatory compliance through implementation of training, policies/procedures, environmental evaluation of compliance as applicable, and provide execution/assistance for special projects as needed. Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory requirements imposed by EPA, TCEQ, and TRCC, or other related regulatory entities. Track legislative and regulatory developments and assess potential impact on company operations. Interface as needed with regulators and external legal counsel on matters involving regulatory compliance.
Collaboration: Utilize internal and external resources to foster teamwork, develop workable solutions, and optimize/positively impact departmental and company goals and results, in line with achieving regulatory compliance. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance fulfilled.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance Program. Emphasize Nothing Touch the Ground and No Visual Pollution Program. Maintain the plants’ like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
Previous Related Experience Required:
Five years of experience in regulatory compliance within a manufacturing, petrochemical, or energy-related industry required.
Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job:
Training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire
Familiarity with electronic filing systems utilized by state and federal regulatory agencies
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters’ Degree (non-JD) in law or related area preferred.
