Immigration Law firm.
We are presently a six-person practice: We are in the process of growing our business and plan to expand over the next three years. There will be greater opportunities for promotion for dedicated workers who stay with us through our growth.
These will be the main job duties:
***Intake Specialist: You will call leads who reached out to us for a consultation, and you will screen them for basic eligibility for different types of immigration benefits. You will then share this information with the attorney and the qualified leads will eventually get booked to see/speak to the attorney to open a case. You must be confident in assessing the facts of each client’s case to screen for potential eligibility. And you must be very empathetic and patient as dealing with people on the phone can often get frustrating.
***Legal Assistant: You will also help the managing attorney by sending contract proposals to prospective new clients; and you will also be onboarding new cases into our Docketwise law firm system, and then assigning the cases to the appropriate paralegal.
***Preparing immigration applications: You will have a smaller case load than our paralegals who are exclusively preparing applications, but you will still be preparing applications as well.
***Admin assistance: you will help with some small admin tasks like filing, and scanning retired files.
Must be:
*Bilingual (English/Spanish)
*Immigration law experience (the lawyer will provide some training, but more experienced candidates will have preference)
*Prior phone/intake experience is a plus, although not entirely necessary, but you must be eager to be on the phone/communicating with prospective clients most of the day.
*Very comfortable working in a team setting: we are a team-focused law firm. Cases don’t just get passed from the lawyer to the paralegal and then filed. Instead, we collaborate on all cases to ensure the work product is perfect. This requires a lot of teamwork and communication. You will also be getting instruction from the lawyer so you must work well in this type of team setting.
*Very friendly, customer service oriented, and comfortable communicating with clients. This mean exercising patience as clients are often confused and don’t undrestand the legal process at all. This job requires a lot of patience with clients.
*Very detail-oriented. Immigration work is very focused on details, and even one typo or data entry error can result in a case being denied. This kind of work cannot be rushed.
