Perkins Thompson is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our Real Estate and Corporate Law Practice Groups. This role provides both administrative and substantive legal support to attorneys, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient client service. The ideal candidate excels in managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines, demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, and is proficient in office technology.

Discretion, independent judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

Support attorneys in real estate and corporate transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries via phone, email, and web-based platforms.

Manage client on-boarding and off-boarding, including conflict checks, engagement agreements, and file organization and archival.

Obtain, organize, and maintain transaction-related documents and information.

Track and manage critical deadlines and priorities for real estate and corporate matters.

Coordinate closings, including scheduling, room reservations, and communications with all parties.

Draft and revise legal documents, including:

Real estate:
Closing statements, deeds, mortgages, notes, leases, and other transactional documents.

Corporate:
Entity formations, dissolutions, consents, and annual reports.

Maintain and update corporate record books for assigned entities.

Proofread, edit, and format documents for accuracy, grammar, and consistency.

Assemble and record legal documents, both electronically and traditionally.

Process attorney time entries, reimbursements, membership renewals, and continuing education registrations.

Review, route, and manage incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and vendor invoices.

Maintain a library of real estate and corporate legal templates.

Provide rotating reception desk coverage and support administrative functions as needed.

Qualifications

5-7 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a law firm or real estate setting.

Bachelor’s degree or professional certification preferred (equivalent experience considered).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), document automation tools, document management systems, and digital signature services.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to proofread for accuracy and clarity.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under deadlines.

Basic math skills for transaction calculations and document preparation.

Proficiency in operating standard office equipment (computers, scanners, and photocopiers).

Ability to work at a desk for extended periods while managing multiple documents and digital files.
