Our Firm, Cafardi Ferguson + Wyrick, LLC, a growing business law firm based near Wexford, PA seeks a full-time Municipal/Employment Associate. The Associate must work as part of a team with the attorneys and staff of the Firm as a whole. This position is responsible for performing functions as assigned by the partners and senior attorneys of the Firm that are billable in nature. These tasks involve legal research, drafting, organization of exhibits and other documents, attendance at County and Township/Borough meetings, arbitrations and other Court hearings. The primary area of law involved is municipal law, with an emphasis on employment issues for County clients within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as some general County solicitor functions.

Qualifications:

Education – Law degree and experience within a law firm setting required.

Experience/Training – A minimum of seven (7) years of experience with municipal law is required.

Licenses/Certifications – Admitted to practice law within the Commonwealth of PA (in good standing).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assignments as directed by attorneys within the Firm involving legal research, drafting, organization of exhibits and other documents, attendance at depositions and hearings within local magistrate, state and federal courts, and the filing of documents with Court within both the State and Federal (PACER) systems;
Managing multiple assignments and deadlines on a daily/weekly/long-term basis;
Appropriately recording time for billable activities to be included on invoices to clients of the Firm;
Taking messages for attorneys or staff as appropriate;
Interacting with clients of the Firm;
Proficiently use computers, including Microsoft Office Suite, for correspondence, research, reports, and email communication;
Must be able to report to work on time as scheduled consistent with business hours of the Firm; and
Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Other Duties of the Job:

Adhere to and promote positive interactions with Firm attorneys, staff co-workers, clients and Firm vendors;
Limited travel may be necessary for filing in state courts or retrieving documents; and
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Physical Demands Typical of this Position:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk 75% of the time
Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
Frequently communicates with agents, co-workers, clients and prospects. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
Constantly uses hands and fingers for typing, writing, etc.
Occasionally reaches with hands and arms
Occasionally lifts 5-10lbs.

This position operates in a professional office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
