Hulse Family Law is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to support our growing practice

About Our Firm

We are a specialist family law firm servicing private clients in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven Regions. The role based from our Wollongong office centrally located at 82 Market Street, Wollongong.

We are a busy, fast-paced practice that is dedicated to ensuring a positive client experience and excellence in all aspects of our work. We specialise in family law including property and financial matters, parenting and child custody matters, financial agreements, de facto relationships and aspects of fertility law.

As Legal Assistant/Paralegal you will provide legal administrative services, drafting support, and client support for our solicitors. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside an Accredited Family Law Specialist, enjoy varied and interesting work and provide invaluable support to ensure clients receive a high level of service.

This role can be full time and is also suitable for a candidate requiring part time hours with flexibility for law students or to support family responsibilities. Experienced paralegals and law students alike are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Responsibility for incoming phone calls, triaging initial client enquiries and general client communication and updates.

Liaising with courts, other solicitors, barristers and third parties via phone and email.

Diary and inbox management for Principal Solicitor.

Drafting correspondence and court documents.

Collating court documents including annexures and tender documents.

Filing and service of court documents.

Preparing and collating e-briefs to Counsel.

General administrative tasks including typing, editing, formatting and proof-reading letters, memos, e-briefs and court documents.

Maintenance of electronic files, including saving and organising incoming documents and correspondence.

Transcribing dictation.

About You

Successful applicants ideally have:

Previous experience in legal administrative roles.

A passion for providing a high level of client service.

A desire to build strong working relationships with a focus on teamwork.

An interest in family law.

A desire to constantly learn and develop new skills and engage with training.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Business Premium.

Previous experience using Smokeball, Family Property and/or other practice and document management systems.

Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated time management and organisational skills.

Positive outlook and sense of humour.
