Title: HIRING COMPLIANCE OFFICER

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under the supervision of the Inspector General, the Hiring Compliance Officer oversees the Park
District’s compliance with the Park District Employment Plan’s rules governing hiring and other
employment actions by conducting investigations, monitoring and auditing hiring sequences, and
drafting and conducting trainings.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Reviews and audits the Park District’s hiring and promotion activity to ensure
compliance with the Employment Plan.

Conducts investigations regarding allegations of Employment Plan violations.
Develops and delivers trainings to Park District staff as required by the Employment
Plan.

Serves as a subject matter expert on the Employment Plan, responding to inquiries from
HR, or other Park District Departments.

Monitors interviews of candidates for Park District employment.
Gathers and analyzes employment data.
Drafts reports of investigative and audit activities.
Contributes to the OIG’s quarterly and annual reports.
Conducts other investigations as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required.
At least two years of compliance monitoring or investigative work experience required,
or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Legal experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of compliance monitoring policies and procedures.
Experience with conducting investigations, including evidence gathering and report
writing.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to deal effectively with other departmental personnel, professional staff and the
general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment, with controlled temperature and
fluorescent lighting. Perform tasks that involve use of hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching,
walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. Performs lifting
tasks up to 25 pounds.
