Nofal Law, a newly established law firm based in Illinois, is seeking a bilingual Law Clerk to assist with cases in immigration and criminal defense. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the foundation and growth of a developing legal practice while gaining hands-on experience in two high-impact areas of law. Fluency in Spanish is required.
Responsibilities:
Conduct legal research and draft motions, legal memoranda, and court filings.
Translate legal documents and interpret for Spanish-speaking clients.
Assist with preparing immigration applications and filings (e.g., asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, bond motions).
Review and summarize criminal discovery and evidence.
Organize and maintain case files, deadlines, and calendars.
Communicate with clients regarding case updates and document collection.
Qualifications:
Law student or experience with immigration law.
Fluent in Spanish (spoken).
Interest in immigration and/or criminal law; prior experience is a plus.
Strong legal writing, research, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
