Legal Assistant – Paralegal Jobs in Garden City, NY at Somekh & Associates

Established Family and Immigration Law Firm in the Heights seeks to fill a full-time Family Law Paralegal / Legal Assistant position. Must be bilingual (English and Spanish) with family law experience preferred.

The paralegal or legal assistant must be able to adapt to daily change, be responsive, self-motivated and have attention to detail. The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining organization in a fast-paced environment is an absolute necessity. The right paralegal or legal assistant should be able to organize, prioritize and work well under pressure.

DUTIES:

Calendaring appointments, deadlines, scheduling meetings, etc.;
Draft documents including petitions, motions, orders;
Communicating with clients to keep them apprised of case status and developments;
Assisting with phones;
Copying, scanning and mailing;
Organizing and managing client files;
Ensuring clients attend all appointments;
Reviewing case files and working with attorneys on issues;

REQUIREMENTS:

Two years experience
Bi-Lingual (Spanish, English)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to multitask and be detail oriented

This is a very busy position that requires juggling many tasks and deadlines, so candidates must possess a strong work ethic, be detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage time efficiently with minimal instruction.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 – $25.00 per hour
