Legal Assistant/Office Assistant Jobs in Alpine, UT at Johnstun Law
Legal Assistant / Office Assistant – Business & Corporate Law
(Full-time or part-time available)
Join our AV-rated, preeminent Utah law firm focused exclusively on business and corporate law. We handle sophisticated transactions and litigation in Utah state and federal courts. We are seeking a high-character, organized, and reliable legal assistant who wants real involvement and direct responsibility—and who is interested in growing into a full-time paralegal role or using this experience as a strong foundation for law school and a future career as a lawyer.
This position is designed as a genuine growth opportunity. High-performing legal assistants who demonstrate ownership, reliability, and strong work product will have a clear path to expanded paralegal responsibilities. The experience you gain here—working closely with attorneys on real business and corporate matters—also provides excellent preparation for those planning to attend law school.
What You’ll Do
You will play an active, hands-on role in supporting both transactional and litigation matters, taking direct responsibility for key administrative, client-facing, and firm-support functions. Core responsibilities include:
- Covering phones and serving as a professional first point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and callers
- Assisting with client intake, initial information gathering, and onboarding new matters
- Managing calendars, deadlines, and case/transaction timelines with accuracy and ownership
- Organizing, maintaining, and updating electronic and physical client files
- Preparing, formatting, and assembling documents, pleadings, correspondence, and closing binders
- Coordinating filings in Utah state and federal courts and tracking related procedural requirements
- Handling client communications and scheduling in a professional and responsive manner
- Assisting with discovery organization, document production, and trial or closing preparation
- Supporting billing, collections, and basic administrative workflows
- Contributing to business development and marketing efforts (including updating materials, assisting with outreach, and supporting firm visibility initiatives)
- Identifying potential issues early, following through on assigned tasks, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
You will be expected to take ownership of your responsibilities, exercise strong judgment on priorities, and contribute as a trusted, proactive member of the team. As you grow, you will have increasing opportunities to take on more substantive work.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe/PDF tools, and general office systems
- Willingness to occasionally assist after hours when deadlines require it
- Prior legal assistant, administrative, or office experience preferred (especially in a law firm setting); strong candidates without direct legal experience will be considered
- Genuine interest in growing into a paralegal role and/or pursuing law school in the future
Most important: A work history that shows commitment and stability (ideally 2+ years in prior roles). We invest in people who stay, grow, and take genuine ownership of their work.
