Paralegal/Legal Assistant
Busy, well-established Jefferson County solo practitioner law firm seeking an excellent legal assistant/paralegal to be an integral part of the team. The practice focuses primarily on criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in keeping complex matters organized. We are looking for someone who is intelligent, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to think several steps ahead.
Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the law office
- Answer phones and communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
- Coordinate attorney scheduling, meetings, and deadlines
- Track and prepare billing
- Draft legal pleadings, correspondence, and court documents
- Monitor court deadlines and case calendars
- Schedule and prepare materials for hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and trials

Skills /Experience Required for Position:
- Office management and/or paralegal experience preferred
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and manage changing priorities
- Resourceful, dependable, and self-motivated
- Some college coursework preferred
