Full-time hours: M-F, 35 to 40/week

Pay Rate: $20-$25/hour

Overview

A lien legal assistant (or legal assistant specializing in liens) helps attorneys and legal teams manage all the paperwork, research, and coordination involved with liens.

Make sure everything about a lien is accurate, documented, and processed properly.

Responsibilities

Document Preparation

Drafts and files lien notices, releases, satisfactions, and other related legal forms.

Prepares supporting documentation for attorneys and clients.

Lien Research

Searches public records to identify existing liens on properties or assets.

Verifies lien validity, status, and priority.

Communication

Interfaces with clients, title companies, lienholders, and courts.

Requests or sends lien payoffs, releases, or other necessary documentation.

Tracking and Management

Maintains lien tracking logs to ensure deadlines (like filing or release dates) are met.

Monitors outstanding liens and helps coordinate their resolution or settlement.

Court and Filing Support

Files liens with the proper county recorder or court.

May assist in filing motions or paperwork for lien enforcement or removal.

Litigation Support

Helps gather evidence and prep case files if the lien is being disputed in court.

Assists in judgment enforcement if the lien is based on a legal ruling.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is preferred, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Understanding legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters is a plus.

Adept at learning and using legal software.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
