Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, or Dari Immigration and/or Legal interpreter
Interpreter Training Programs is in search of a qualified Immigration and/or Legal interpreter to teach online once a week (6.30 pm – 9.00 pm EST) a group of 3 to 10 aspiring interpreters in any of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, or Dari. The language coaching component is one aspect of our 7-week, 45-hour Online Immigration Interpreter training program, where students learn consecutive interpreting, sight translation, immigration terminology, interpreting code of ethics and standards of practice, and more. We would also like to fill the same role for our Legal Interpreter Training program.
The role of the Immigration/Legal Interpreting Coach involves the following:
1. Arrive on time to weekly ZOOM meetings with students (group of 3-10 students).
2. Review translations and pronunciation of provided subject matter terminology.
3. Practice provided interpreting roleplays and offer feedback.
4. Conduct 10-15 language assessments over the phone.
5. Conduct final oral exams for each student.
Required:
– Bachelor’s degree
– Proficiency in English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, or Dari
– Minium 2 years of relevant experience in Immigration/Legal Interpreting
– State Court Interpreting Certification (if applying for Legal Interpreter Trainer position)
– Technical skills for working via ZOOM
Preferred:
– Teaching experience
