What We are Looking For:

The firm has an existing vacancy for a Floater Legal Assistant, where the first assignment will be a maternity leave coverage in our Corporate department. The ideal candidate for this position will be highly organized and proficient in managing the administrative needs of Corporate Lawyers. You will be integral in coordinating client information, ensuring projects stay on track, and maintaining impeccable organization across all tasks.

Success in this role demands a keen eye for detail, especially with proofreading, along with a proactive mindset. The ability to work independently, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully to the team’s overall success will be essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with a large volume of corporate transactions
  • Completion of corporate and minute book documents
  • Proofreading and checking all assigned work
  • Diarize and track deadlines
  • Compile Record Books at the completion of the transactions
  • Handle all administrative details with respect to accounting, expenses, wires, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, book meetings and boardrooms etc.

  • Requirements:

  • Minimum five years’ previous experience as a Corporate legal assistant
  • Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk program
  • Handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands
  • Skills:

  • Microsoft suite of Applications
  • Strong technical skills with creating, numbering, styling and rebuilding documents
  • Familiarity with iManage or a document management system
  • Experience using Docu Sign would be an asset
  • Proficient with Closing Folders
  • Ability to proofread at a high level
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Compensation:

    The salary range for this position is $60,- $80, annually; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal and market equity.
